Install¶
Download and install¶
On macOS, in a terminal:
This puts Bella ScreenRec into /Applications (or ~/Applications if you cannot write there).
Bella ScreenRec needs macOS 15 (Sequoia) or newer on a Mac with Apple silicon. It records with the screen recording engine macOS 15 brought, and the background removal of the camera has no build for Intel Macs. Windows and Linux follow later.
First start: permissions¶
macOS asks once for each thing Bella ScreenRec may use. Allow what you need:
| Permission | Needed for | Asked when |
|---|---|---|
| Screen & System Audio Recording | recording at all, and the list of screens and windows | at the first start |
| Camera | the camera overlay | at the first start |
| Microphone | recording your voice | at the first start, and when you choose a microphone |
| Input Monitoring | the key overlay | when you switch the keys on |
macOS applies Screen Recording and Input Monitoring only after a restart of the app: allow them, then quit Bella ScreenRec (⌘Q) and open it again. Until then the control window shows a red hint with an Open Settings button.
If you declined a question by mistake, the gear next to the record button has a Privacy row with one button per permission. Each opens its page in System Settings → Privacy & Security; switch Bella ScreenRec on there and restart it.
Updates¶
Bella ScreenRec asks for a new version at every start, in the background. A new version shows a dialog: Install and restart, Later, or Skip this version. The gear next to the record button has Check now and the switch At start, which turns the check at every start off. An update waits while you record. A new major version that your license does not cover says so; see License.
Uninstall¶
Delete Bella ScreenRec from Applications. Your settings and license stay in the folders listed under Configuration files; delete those too to remove everything. Your recordings stay where they were saved.
